Coffee Chat: What’s Up?

Where and What I’m Up To!

I’m back in the U.S. after an incredible year abroad! Curious about what life looks like living internationally? Check out the travel section of my site. Since returning stateside, friends and family have had tons of questions, so I thought it would be fun to answer them all here. Despite being a bit of an introvert, I’m an open book. My mission has always been to live an extraordinary life—full of experiences, growth, and learning—and to inspire others to do the same by sharing my journey. So, let’s dive in!

We left our home in Greece on November 16th and headed west. We spent a week in Brooklyn seeing family and then headed to Arizona. From there we drove to Southern California and then I stayed to spend time with my mom and help with her house remodel while Z flew up to Oregon to manage our monster of a move with the help of some amazing friends and cousins!!

Move Where?

While we’re working on our long-term visas for Greece, we can only stay a limited amount of time in the country during each six-month period. To manage that, we’ve spent chunks of time in Türkiye (a lot this year, wow!) and the U.S. While Greece is firmly our home for now, we still have family—parents, in particular—in the United States.

Coming back to the U.S. without a permanent base has been a bit tricky. Our belongings have been stored (and inaccessible), and while we’ve loved bouncing between Airbnbs, friends’ homes, and family visits, it can be stressful. Living out of a backpack, working in makeshift spaces (no, we’re not on vacation!), and being off our routines has its challenges. We LOVE Oregon—especially the beauty of Tenmile Lake and the Portland area—but we’ve decided to prioritize time with family while we’re in the U.S. Getting older ourselves has made us hyper-aware of how precious time with loved ones really is. Living in Greece brings us immense joy, but it’s important to balance that with the time we have left with those closest to us.

We did some math - the storage fees and cost of staying elsewhere vs. the low mortgage on a cute little home we have in western Arizona and it made sense . It’s about five hours from my family and close to Z’s. It gives us a place to store our things, a U.S. base when we need it, and peace of mind for any extended visits back to care for our parents. I head back to AZ next week to set our new US house up and be reunited with Z!! And my Art supplies! Kitchen stuff! Whoohoo! Also - yes, I will be able to ship/deliver artwork. We’ll be back and forth between Southern CA and AZ (and possibly OR) through the end of February.

What’s New?

Eternal Recess is a labor of love - a place where I can share my travels, writing, lessons, recipes and more. While I do get a small commissions from some of the links (only if you click them!) this is mostly a passion project.

Lately, my focus has been on building my midlife coaching business. As I approached my forties, I noticed myself—and so many others—asking, “Now what?” We spend decades chasing education, careers, marriages, homes, and savings, only to find ourselves in a plateau of sorts, with no clear direction for what’s next. Determined to carve out a more meaningful path, I discovered that if I could figure out how to align my passions with a life of purpose, I could help others do the same. I’ll share more about this work and how you can get involved over at www.rosecameron.com with socials here and here!

Where Next?

Miss my Greek stray cat army? Me too! But the world is big, and there’s so much to explore. We’ll be in the U.S. until the end of February, then it’s off to South Africa! We’ll start in Cape Town for the Cape Epic (hoping Z can ride!) before heading on safari to see Africa’s incredible wildlife. From there, April will take us to Egypt, where we’ll explore Cairo, the Great Pyramids, and the Sphinx. Then we’ll head to Luxor and sail the Nile, venturing to incredible places like the Valley of the Kings, Abu Simbel, Kom Ombo, Aswan and more! Then we’ll finally head back to our beautiful home on Lesvos! Got Cape Town or Egypt recommendations? Let me know!

Lastly, Thank You!

Thank you for giving me a space to share, for reading about my adventures and for being a part of my life whether near or far! If you’d like to help me continue sharing and coming along ‘with’ me, feel free to share any post at any time either through a link or social media (likes, shares, comments)! You can always sign up for my newsletter (and get the free guide, whoohoo!) and I’ll send you a weekly summary of what’s new! I’d also be grateful if you can check out my new website www.rosecameron.com and share it (and social media accounts) with friends and family that might find it useful!

I’ve had my life impacted in so many powerful ways by other folks being brave enough to share their personal stories - triumphs and trials alike. If sharing my life can make a difference even to one person, it’s well worth my time. Like Marianne Williamson says, “And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."

Got Questions?

Ask below in the comment section (first name only required - or enter your secret nickname if you’re shy) or you can always send me an email! I’ll be doing a separate post on all the questions folks have had recently - some are a riot!
